The RYA VHF Radio Online Course can be taken on your PC, Mac or iPad letting you learn at your own pace in your own time anywhere worldwide.
This course is for anyone who owns a Marine VHF Fixed or Handheld set. The Marine VHF Radio is an important piece of safety equipment onboard, understanding the correct procedures when operating the VHF Radio is vital and could save you or your crews’ lives.
The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control or operate the VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on a leisure vessels fitted with a fixed or handheld Marine VHF Radio.
IMPORTANT: Although the RYA VHF licence (which is actually a UK Government licence) is recognized in many countries, it’s not always recognized in Hong Kong by OFCA (sometimes its rejected and sometimes accepted) as Hong Kong have their own local VHF certification. This RYA course it primarily made available for those who wish to charter a yacht in countries outside of Hong Kong that mandate the need for a VHF licence (e.g. some Mediterranean countries). If you wish to ensure your licence will be accepted by OFCA then please consider doing the Long Range course offered by the RHKYC.
