Welcome to China’s first RYA Sail Cruising Recognized Training Centre. We are based in Hong Kong and teach the full range of both theory and practical RYA yacht cruising courses. To see our RYA registration details click here.
RYA qualifications are recognized all over the world as being the ‘gold standard’ for boating qualification, both for pleasure and commercial use. The RYA have Recognized Training Centres (RTC) all over the world from Australia to the USA and it’s only through these RTCs they deliver their world class training and qualifications. Latest News (Sep 2025) – APY moving to RHKYC
The RHKYC is one of the oldest sailing clubs in the world and takes pride in its mission to be a premier yachting and rowing club. Following its mission statement, the RHKYC will be taking over from APY over the next few months and integrate the training standards of the RYA Sail Cruising Scheme into their ranks. Initially, courses will continue to operate from the RHKYC, Kellett Island but later the homebase will move to Shelter Cove. All courses will be open to members and non-members alike and will provide a mix of Start Yachting up to Yachtmaster certification, all within the syllabus of the RYA Sail Cruising scheme.
APY and RHKYC invite everyone who is looking to upgrade their skills and knowledge, or perhaps just want to get some sea miles, to look through the course dates for suitable training. We look forward to welcoming you onboard.

World Sailing Sea Safety & Survival Courses
For course dates click the Course Booking button below. Please note that as the RCSR will be in Feb 2026, due to the closure of the swimming pool in Jan-Feb there maybe no more courses in 2026 before the RCSR race.
Theory Courses
RYA theory courses such as RYA Day Skipper Theory and RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore Theory are available throughout the year. This is the perfect time to get the likes of the RYA Day Skipper Theory done so you are ready for when we can run scheduled courses. Note: As I will be traveling order fulfillment could be delayed by a few days.

Training Yachts
We have two training yachts in the school to suit all types of sailing.
Beneteau 37
Our newer Beneteau 37 is ideal for training RYA Competent Crew and RYA Day Skipper as its a good comfortable size but small enough for a new skipper to be able to handle her with ease. She is well equipped and has excellent cover from the sun with a full bimini. The Beneteau can comfortably sleep 7 and with its large, wide cockpit it’s very comfortable upstairs.
Bavaria 47
Our larger Bavaria 47 is more suited towards the RYA Coastal Skipper and RYA Yachtmaster courses but as she has air conditioning we use her more frequently in the hotter months. Her features also including a 240V generator, electric primary winches, radar and HF radio. So she is also ideally setup for blue water cruising.
‘Own Boat’ Training
If you wish to have your own private course on your own yacht this can be arranged. The yacht used must meet certain standards we will be happy to advise you about the details on request.
